School Rules
1 | Flag Raising Ceremony |
1.1 | The flag-raising ceremony is conducted at 7.30 a.m. and all pupils must be present. |
1.2 | Pupils who are Singapore Citizens must sing the National Anthem and take the Pledge. Pupils will take the Pledge with the right fist placed over the heart. |
1.3 | Pupils who are non-Singapore citizens must show respect by standing at attention when the National Anthem is sung and the Pledge is taken. |
2 | Attendance and Punctuality |
2.1 | Attendance in school is compulsory. Pupils are required to be in school by 7.30 a.m. Attendance will be taken by the first period of the day. |
2.2 | Absence from school must be accompanied by a medical certificate issued by a medical practitioner registered with the Singapore Medical Council. |
2.3 | Absence from school must be supported with a letter of explanation by parents (only up to twice a term) for pupils who are unwell and are self-medicated at home by parents; or due to an unforeseen circumstances. |
2.4 | Pupils must be punctual for school. Pupils who arrive in school after 7.30 a.m. are considered late. Learning consequences will be meted out; and their late- coming will be entered and monitored in the school system. |
2.5 | Pupils must not leave the school compound during school hours or before remedial lessons or co-curricular activities or any other school-organised activities unless permission is given by the school. |
2.6 | Pupils leaving the school before dismissal time must be accompanied by their parents or caregivers, and reasons for leaving the school must be recorded in the ‘Permission to Leave’ form available from the General Office. |
3 | Attire and Grooming |
3.1 | School Uniform |
3.1.1 |
Pupils are to wear the prescribed school uniform and modification to the uniform is not allowed. |
3.1.2 | Pupils must be in school uniform at all times when in school or participating in activities organised by the school. |

Pupils must be neatly groomed, e.g. school uniform should be clean and neat at all times. |
3.1.4 | Pupils must wear their PE attire, neatly tucked in at all times. |
3.1.5 | For safety reasons, pupils are not allowed to wear personal or religious adornments, accessories, or any jewelry pieces (rings, bracelets, necklaces, fancy watches and earrings etc.). Girls are only permitted to wear simple ear studs (plain design). No protruding ear stick is allowed. |
3.1.6 | Pupils must practise personal hygiene and wash their hands with soap before meal times etc. They must keep their fingernails short and clean without any nail polish. |
3.1.7 | Pupils must wear only plain full black canvas shoes without white or coloured trimmings or designs. |
3.2 | Hair for boys |
3.2.1 | Male pupils must be neat in appearance, clean-shaven and no facial hair is allowed. |
3.2.2 | Male pupils must keep their hair short and evenly cut above the collar and ears. |
3.2.3 | Outlandish hairstyles and coloured hair is not allowed. |
3.2.4 | Male pupils must keep their fringe short which should not touch the eyebrows or ears. |
3.3 | Hair for girls |
3.3.1 | Female pupils are encouraged to keep their hair short above the shoulders; and if hair is shoulder length or longer, it should be tied or plaited neatly using dark- coloured ribbons, hair clips or hair bands. |
3.3.2 | Female pupils must keep their fringe short which should not touch the eyebrows or ears. |
3.2.3 | Outlandish hairstyles and coloured hair are not allowed. |
4 | Use of Mobile Devices While we discourage pupils from bringing mobile phones, we understand that some parents/guardians prefer to have their children carry mobile phones for the convenience of communication and safety, especially children travelling alone on public transport or commuting long distances to and from school. Please refer to the following guidelines and instructions on the appropriate use of mobile devices, including mobile phones, during school hours. |
4.1 | Pupils must switch off their mobile devices and keep them out of sight at all times unless instructed by teachers. |
4.2 | Pupils are allowed to use their mobile phone before and after school hours at the Foyer, Concourse or General Office to contact their parents or caregivers and not for the purpose of entertainment (playing games, recording still or moving images or surfing the internet). Restriction on the use of mobile devices applies to pupils during all school activities including excursions, camps and co-curricular activities. |
4.3 | The school will not be responsible for any loss, theft or damage to their mobile devices. |
4.4 | Pupils are not allowed to bring their mobile devices into the examination rooms for both oral and written assessments. |
4.5 | In the event of unauthorised or unpermitted use of a mobile device, the school reserves the right to confiscate the device (including SIM card) and disciplinary actions will be taken. Parents will be informed to attend a meeting with the school to collect the mobile device. |
4.6 | Repeat offenders, will be barred from bringing any mobile device to school. |
5 | Prohibited Items |
5.1 | Pupils are allowed to use their mobile phone before and after school hours at the Foyer, Concourse or General Office to contact their parents or caregivers and not for the purpose of entertainment (playing games, recording still or moving images or surfing the internet). Restriction on the use of mobile devices applies to pupils during all school activities including excursions, camps and co-curricular activities. |
5.2 | Pupils are not allowed to have in their possession any weapon. They are also not allowed to bring any weapon-like item which is used or intended to be used to cause harm to others (this includes scissors and penknives). |
5.3 | Pupils are not allowed to bring electronic games, toys, trading cards or any other expensive items to school. |
5.4 | Should any pupil bring prohibited items to school, the school reserves the right to confiscate the items. Parents will be informed to meet with the school to collect the item. |
6 | Educative Consequences for Misconduct |
6.1 | All pupils are expected to demonstrate good behaviour at all times. As part of our educative process to bring out the best in every child, the school has put in place appropriate learning consequences for any misbehaviour. |
6.2 | Pupils who fail to abide by the school rules will be managed according to the school’s disciplinary procedures. For serious offences, disciplinary actions may include, but not be restricted to, caning, probation, suspension (out- of-class or out-of-school), and/or any other actions deemed necessary and appropriate by the school. All actions taken by the school will be in the best interest of our pupils, school staff and community. |
6.3 | Pupils who commit the following offences will be awarded a ‘FAIR’ grade for conduct and the offence will be placed on official record. |
6.3.1 | Cheating of any form (for cheating in assessments, tests or examinations, the pupil who committed or participated in the offence will also be awarded a zero for the affected paper) |

6.3.3 | Assault/Fighting |
6.3.4 | Arson/Vandalism |
6.3.5 | Use of vulgarity (offensive language or behaviour) |
6.3.6 | Disruptive behaviour |

6.3.9 | Leaving school grounds without permission |
6.3.10 | Truancy |
6.3.11 | Possession of weapons or dangerous items |
6.3.12 | Consumption/possession/distribution of cigarettes and other illegal substances |
7 | Consent for Photography and Video-taking |
7.1 | Photographs or video images of pupils, parents, guardians and caregivers may be taken during school activities and events such as classroom lessons, co- curricular activities, school camps, school concerts, learning journeys, bonding sessions and parents’ workshops and activities. The school may use and publish such photographs or video recordings in school publications, the school’s website, social media channels, or other communication channels. |
